Steve Gleason is recovering at home from an injury following an exiting van accident

New Orleans Saints legend Steve Gleason suffered an injury while getting out of his van before speaking at the Gleason Life Skills Volleyball Clinic on Saturday.

Gleason’s wife Michel posted on social media Sunday evening that the accident was scary, but that Gleason is recovering at home.

“Although he is injured, it could have been much worse,” Michel Gleason wrote. “Miraculously, he was spared more serious injury because he was confined to his wheelchair and thanks to the quick action of his care team, a passing doctor and family.

“I think his van is preparing him his fight against Jake Paul.

“He is resting at home and grateful for this incredibly beautiful life and the support and love from everyone.”

Gleason, a top safety and special teams player for the Saints from 2000 to 2006, released an autobiography this spring and has maintained an aggressive schedule of appearances and events.
