Pedestrian struck and seriously injured in Wakulla County, FHP says

A pedestrian was injured Monday evening while walking along the side of a road in Wakulla County.

The 44-year-old Crawfordville woman was walking along the white fog line on Shadeville Road near the intersection with Hickorywood Drive, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol. A 69-year-old pickup driver, also from Crawfordville, told investigators he saw the woman and walked over to give her a room.

“As (the driver) passed (the woman), for unknown reasons, (the woman) stepped into the roadway with her arm out,” FHP said. The passenger side mirror struck the pedestrian, causing serious injuries, the news release said.

FHP does not identify those involved in wrecks in its press releases. The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office and Wakulla Fire and Rescue assisted FHP at the scene.
