World Chess Championship 2024: match format and structure

Format: The championship will be contested in a best-of-14 game format. A player must score 7.5 points to win the title. Points are awarded as follows:

  • Win: 1 point
  • To draw: 0.5 points each
  • Loss: 0 points

If the match ends in a draw after all matches, tiebreak matches will be played to determine the winner.
