Man charged with murder in Chicago freeway shooting

CHICAGO, Ill. (WTVO) – Police have arrested a Chicago man on murder charges after he allegedly shot a motorist in a traffic accident on I-80.

According to Illinois State Police, troopers were called to the scene of the shooting at the I-80 west entrance to I-355 on Monday, November 25 around 5:30 p.m.

Authorities said Phillip Rogers, 45, was involved in the incident and fatally shot Lenier Clayton, 30, of Joliet.

Clayton’s vehicle then crashed.

Rogers is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.

Police reminded the public to call 911 if motorists think another driver is harassing them, or to drive to the nearest police station to report it.
