Unnamed persons, accompanied by armed persons believed to be police officers, stormed Metro TV in Accra to apparently disrupt a live broadcast of the attack. Good morning Ghana show.

It is suggested that some station workers were injured during the incident. The reason for the police action is still unknown.

The show’s host, Randy Abbey, said that’s what the individuals tried to do enter by force the studio, as there was audible commotion in the background.

The program had a commercial break for a while due to the raid.

“Why would a gang try to enter a studio where live programming is taking place? I’m concerned for Metro’s security staff. One is currently injured,” Kwesi Pratt, a panelist on the show, noted during the broadcast.

The incident has sparked widespread concern as Ghana is less than a week away from general elections.

Similar attacks on the press and media have occurred during the election campaign season, such as in the Ashanti region, where Kofi Asamoah, the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate in Asante Akim North, stormed Agogo-based Salt FM due to a number of alleged defamatory statements made against him.

Asamoah claimed that a broadcaster on the channel said he had received financial support and resources from the current MP to finance his campaign.

The Class FM building was attacked on Thursday, April 25, 2024 by some unknown attackers.

The attackers threw stones and petrol bombs, which were captured by CCTV footage of the incident released online.

UTV studios attacked

YEN.com.gh reported that earlier New Patriotic Party followers caused chaos at Despite Media’s United Television (UTV).

The group stormed the UTV studios on Saturday, October 7, 2023 during the live broadcast of the channel’s flagship entertainment program, United Showbiz.

Some of them reportedly demanded the whereabouts of Kwame A Plus, a government critic and regular expert on the show.
