One dead after deputy-involved shooting in Marksville

MARKSVILLE, La. (KALB) – Louisiana State Police have revealed that one person was killed in a deputy-involved shooting on Scallan Street near MLK Drive in Marksville on November 25.

At 4:20 p.m. that day, LSP was requested by the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office to investigate the incident.

According to LSP’s investigation, an APSO officer was investigating several previous shootings in the area of ​​the Bethune Community Center when an encounter occurred with multiple people on Scallan Street. During this encounter, LSP said the deputy fired his gun, shooting one person. LSP said a gun was found near the person shot, who was transported to a hospital and ultimately pronounced dead.
