Person died by suicide along Franklin County railroad tracks

One person died by suicide in Chambersburg on Tuesday afternoon they were hit by a trainthe police said.

The incident happened along the train tracks in the general area of ​​Cleveland Avenue and Catherine Street around 2 p.m., county 911 dispatchers said.

A Chambersburg Police lieutenant confirmed that the Franklin County Coroner’s Office was dispatched to the scene Tuesday, but said “information regarding self-harm incidents” is not released by police. The lieutenant added that the incident was neither an accident nor a homicide.

The name, age and address of the deceased were unknown on Wednesday evening. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has not responded to two inquiries from PennLive as of Tuesday evening.
