Staffer steals 20 rounds from Pune’s first gun shop

A 22-year-old employee of the Badruddin Abdultayeb weapons depot in Ravivar Peth, the city’s first privately owned weapons facility, stole 20 rounds of a .32-bore revolver between November 22 and 26, police said. The shop owner, Adnan Firoze Bandukwala, 49, from Bohri Aali area has filed an FIR against the suspect, identified as Aditya Chandan Maknoor, 22, who stays near Abeda Inamdar Senior College at Azam Campus in Camp.

The store was opened in 1942 by its founder Badruddin Abdultayeb and is one of four such stores operating in the city. Inspector Ajit Jadhav of Faraskhana police station said the suspect stole cartridges kept in the cupboard of the licensed department room in the shop. The police have invoked Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 306 (theft by clerk or servant of property in the possession of master) against the suspect.
