Chronic Disease Self-Management Course to be Offered at Coalport Center for Active Living |  Way of life

CLEARFIELD – The Mature Resource Area Agency on Aging will offer “chronic disease self-management” this spring as part of the agency’s ongoing health and wellness programs. This course is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday for six weeks, from May 15 to June 19. All classes will be held at the Coalport Center for Active Living, 961 Forest St. Coalport, PA 16627.

Chronic disease self-management is proven to improve the health of people with chronic illnesses. This is an interactive workshop for people living with one or more chronic physical or mental health conditions, such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease or depression. Participants learn skills to manage their daily health conditions, including exercise, healthy eating, managing symptoms such as pain, fatigue, sleep problems, shortness of breath, stress and depression, weight loss and communication skills. Basic self-management skills taught include action planning, problem solving, and decision making.
