Darwin Nunez breaks social media silence amid rumors Liverpool striker could leave this summer

Nunez has fueled speculation over his future after deleting all Liverpool-related images from his Instagram account.

Darwin Nunez has made his first social media post since removing all Liverpool-related images from his Instagram account.

Nunez stunned fans by deleting all photos relating to his time at Anfield, following Sunday’s 4-2 win over Tottenham.

The Uruguay international struggled to make an impact after being substituted in the second half against Spurs.

And after receiving criticism from fans on social media, he deleted all Liverpool images from his account – although a reference to the club still remains in his bio.

His decision to delete the footage fueled speculation over his future, with Barcelona considering a bid for the 24-year-old this summer.

The Sun claims Barcelona view Nunez as a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, despite his inconsistent form for Liverpool.

Nunez has now broken her silence following her mysterious social media activity.

Responding to former Liverpool and Barcelona striker Luis Suarez, who scored his 500th career goal on Monday night, Nunez replied: “Idolo”, followed by heart eyes and straining biceps emojis.

Suarez reached this milestone after scoring a hat-trick for Inter Miami in a 6-2 win over the New York Red Bulls.

He shared a message to his fans on Instagram, writing: “500 club goals, incredible. Thank you Nacional, Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, Atletico (Madrid), Gremio, Inter Miami. And thank you all for the support .”

Nunez plays alongside Suarez for the Uruguay national team and it remains to be seen whether he will make the same career move as ‘El Pistolero’, leaving Liverpool for Barcelona.

Nunez has scored 33 goals in 94 games for the Reds since arriving from Benfica in a deal worth up to £85million in 2022.

Despite speculation linking him with a move away from Liverpool, Nunez wants to speak to new manager Arne Slot before deciding on his future, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

“Many fans are asking if Darwin Nunez deletes all Liverpool-related posts from his Instagram,” Romano wrote in his daily briefing.

“Everything is quiet so far, nothing is happening and Darwin is certainly looking forward to speaking to new coach Arne Slot.”
