Tom Selleck risks losing his California ranch with the cancellation of ‘Blue Bloods’

Tom Selleck fears he won’t be able to afford his lavish 63-acre ranch once “Blue Bloods” ends this winter.

The beloved actor, 79, has been starring on the popular CBS crime drama as fictional New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan since 2010.

But fans of the long-running series have been dealt a major blow with the news that the series is set to end later this year.

And without his salary from the show, Selleck fears he’ll be forced to give up his ranch in Ventura County, California.

Speaking on “CBS Sunday Morning,” the Emmy winner opened up about his successful career that spans decades.

“You know, I hope I continue to work hard enough to keep this place going,” he said, referring to the ranch.

“Seriously, is this a problem?” What if you stopped working? » asked host Tracy Smith.

“It’s still a problem,” Selleck said. “If I stopped working, yes. Am I ready for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!

The actor took over the ranch in 1988 after leaving “Magnum: PI.”

And as he prepares to turn 80 in January, Selleck said he has no plans to stop acting anytime soon.

“As an actor, you never lose – I don’t lose, anyway – that feeling that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job,” he said.

“I like the fact that there are no excuses,” he continued. “You just go to work and do the work. And I have a lot of respect for what I call “work,” and I love it. And I would like to continue doing it.

Ideally, Selleck hopes the decision to cancel “Blue Bloods” will be reversed by the end of the year.

“I will continue to believe that CBS will come to its senses,” he said. “We are the third most scripted show in all of broadcasting. We win the evening. The whole cast wants to come back. And I can tell you this: we are not sliding down a cliff. We put on good shows and always hold our place. So I do not know. You tell me!”

This isn’t the first time the actor has spoken out about how much the ranch means to him.

“My relationships and my ranch keep me sane,” he told People in 2020. “I do a big job and I go around. I like to see things grow. It’s a retreat.

The “Three Men and a Baby” actor married Jillie Mack in 1987. The couple shares one daughter, Hannah.

Selleck was previously married to Jaqueline Ray from 1971 to 1982. The couple shares son Kevin.
