Mom wins ‘biggest prize of her life’ after spending $5 on Maryland Lottery. ‘Shocked’

A Maryland woman is patiently waiting for her turn to win a big lottery prize.

She is now $100,000 richer.

The Baltimore mom stopped at a convenience store and purchased a few The Big Spin scratch-off games that cost $5 each, the Maryland Lottery said in a May 7 news release.

She checked the tickets at the store and one match had a “Congratulations” message on it.

She had discovered “Spin” on the scratch-off game, lottery officials said.

The woman then made an appointment to play The Big Spin Wheel game at lottery headquarters and win a prize of between $50,000 and $250,000, the agency said.

She brought her fiancé with her and the couple locked eyes while she spun him around.

“When I heard the last click, that’s when I opened my eyes,” she said.

The cursor landed on $100,000, “the biggest prize of his life”.

“I’m still in shock,” the woman told lottery officials. “I’ve been playing for so long and I was tired of reading people’s stories about buying a loaf of bread and a scratch card and winning a top prize. I was waiting for my turn.

The lucky player now plans to use her prize money for a trip to Las Vegas, where she will fly for the first time.

She also told lottery officials she wanted to take her children on a cruise and to a water park.

“It came at the perfect time,” she said.
