Pete Wicks and Sam Thompson Address TRIC Awards Nomination Mistake

Pete Wicks and Sam Thompson have corrected an error in their TRIC Awards nominations.

The reality stars were recently nominated for Best Podcast for the joint show Staying Relevant. However, only Sam’s name made the original shortlist.

Reacting to his omission from the latest episode of the podcast, the TOWIE star said: “When I say we’re in the running for best podcast, we’re not. Staying Relevant hosted by Sam Thompson is. I don’t ‘n’t even one of them. Nothing to do with me So please, guys, we’d like you to vote for Sam Thompson’s Staying Relevant at the TRIC Awards.

“I asked if I could be your plus-one at the event, just to support him. I’m going to put it all over my social media and that, because I really think it’s time for Sam to be recognized for his work on the Staying Relevant podcast.

The Made in Chelsea star then joked that Pete should accept the award on his behalf if Staying Relevant wins.

Practicing his acceptance speech, Pete said: “It’s a great podcast that I enjoy listening to myself. It’s one of my favorites, hosted by the wonderful Sam Thompson. Unfortunately he didn’t have could be here tonight. So I accept this on his behalf.

Although the initial list of nominees was released with only Sam’s name attached to the podcast, the TRIC Awards team had amended the error and included Pete as host by the time the episode aired on Monday.

Pete concluded: “We’re getting to the point where I can’t figure out if this is on purpose…or if I’m just invisible.”

The Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) Awards will take place at Grosvenor House in London on June 25.
