Cameron University announces interim president

LAWTON, Okla. (KAUZ) – The Cameron University Board of Trustees announced today, May 7, the appointment of Jari Askins as interim president of the university. The appointment is now awaiting approval by the board at its meeting next month.

Askins, a Duncan native, previously served as Oklahoma’s lieutenant governor and Oklahoma Democratic House leader. Askins’ current role places her as administrative director of the courts.

Cameron’s chairman, John McArthur, announced in January that he was stepping down from his post. His last day is July 21.

If approved, Askins will have her first day of college on July 22. She plans to fill this role as the regents complete the national search for the university’s 18th president.
