Meet a Shocker: Bari Syed

The W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State offers the largest selection of AACSB-accredited programs in Kansas. Bari Syed chose WSU for its master of accounting program because of this status.

What made you choose Wichita State University?

AACSB accreditation in business schools. AACSB accreditation is important to me because this accreditation is highly regarded in the academic and business communities as a mark of excellence in business education.

It is globally recognized and respected by employers, other educational institutions and the business community.

Having a degree from an AACSB accredited university such as Wichita State University can enhance my credibility and marketability, both nationally and internationally.

What was your biggest challenge as a student and how did you overcome it?

My biggest problem was fear. I overcame it by just sticking to a plan and just not paying attention to the fear element.

What’s your favorite off-campus spot in Wichita?

My favorite places to eat are Bella Luna, Newport Grill (happy hour, especially), Redrock Canyon Grill, Texas Roadhouse, Kababs, and Nas Kitchen.

What are your plans after graduation?

I am going to start studying for my CPA exam and am considering working for a large company.

What advice would you give to other Wichita State students? Don’t let fear consume you. Believe in yourself.

Never back down from anything.
