China’s Industry Ministry says Huawei charges ‘unjust and immoral’

BEIJING (Reuters) – The U.S. government’s accusations against Huawei Technologies Co Ltd are unfair and immoral, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Tuesday.

The US Justice Department on Monday charged Huawei and its chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou, with conspiring to violate US sanctions against Iran by doing business with Tehran through a subsidiary it was trying to hide.

Separately, he said Huawei also stole robotic technology from carrier T-Mobile US Inc.

Wen Ku, head of information and communications at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, or MIIT, told a news conference in Beijing that the charges were “unjust and immoral.”
