UW Liberated Zone assault on professor caught on camera

UW Liberated Zone assault on professor caught on camera

A professor was attacked in the vacated area of the Autonomous University of Washington (UW). This was recorded on video.

Computer science professor Stuart Reges visited the growing anti-Semitic encampment for “The Jason Rantz Show” on KTTH Tuesday morning. Within minutes, as during his previous arrival, Reges was immediately swarmed by activists providing security.

“Within minutes, three people were surrounding me with umbrellas. It escalated to five people surrounding me with umbrellas,” Reges told “The Jason Rantz Show” exclusively. “And they have a code, I guess, where they say, ‘Doctor, doctor, there’s a doctor coming,’ which means someone is filming. So you’re supposed to mask yourself so they can’t see your face.

Minutes later, the professor was hit on the back of the head by an unidentified activist. The man fled after the attack.

“I was suddenly hit in the side of the head. Boom, hit really hard in the side of the head. People were shocked. You could kind of hear the protesters saying “Whoa.” And this guy got away,” Reges said.

What does the recording of the assault in the liberated UW zone show?

Reges was filming via his cell phone at the time of the attack. In the video, you hear a loud bang on his head, followed by an activist saying, “Hey! Save, save. Get out of here! Keep going.” He dropped his phone under the force of the unexpected assault.

“I was hit in the head very badly by someone,” Reges told one of the demonstrators.

“Are you fine?” » asked another masked activist. He then immediately said, “They are not affiliated with us. We are not here to attack people. I don’t know where they come from. That’s why they ran away.

Reges responded by noting that there were Antifa symbols around the encampment.

“Do you have any Antifa people here? » asked Reges.

“Um, no comment on that,” the activist replied.

“There is some pain… a little dizzy”

Reges refused to see any of the camp doctors before walking away. He was again surrounded by umbrella-wielding activists, harassed and hounded until he left.

“There’s some pain and, you know, a little bit of dizziness, you know, but if it gets worse, I know if I start to get dizzy, or something like that, I should see a doctor. So I think I’m okay. It was not that hard all of a sudden. It was kind of a jolt, this book, I get hit from behind when I wasn’t expecting it,” Reges said.

Back at his office, Reges reported the assault to the UW Police Department (UWPD). Officers are not allowed to proactively enter the area, as their presence would anger activists.

UW administrators refuse to act

UW administrators, including President Ana Marie Cauce, are aware that activists are harassing and stalking Reges and anyone else they do not want inside their encampment. But they refuse to act.

A UW spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment on the assault in the liberated area.

Previously, an administrator had indicated that UW police would not intervene until there was a life-threatening emergency.

“UWPD will actively monitor the event from the outset and be prepared to respond if the event escalates and threatens life safety… The priorities are always the safety of all and the continuity of university operations,” Vice President for Campus Safety and Security Sally Clark said, according to a document obtained by “The Jason Rantz Show” on KTTH.

Reges is not surprised that he was attacked. He fears the encampment will continue to intensify and there will be more violence.
