Hyderabad Airport Witnesses Impact of Air India Express Flight Cancellation

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad airport, officially known as Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), has witnessed the impact of Air India Express flight cancellations.

Due to the sudden cancellations, chaos ensued at the airport as passengers expressed their frustration over the unexpected disruptions.

Air India Express cabin crew take mass sick leave

Air India Express experienced major service disruptions with 78 flights canceled and many of them delayed after cabin crew members requested mass sick leave to protest the airline’s ongoing transition .

In 2023, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved the Tata Group’s initiative to merge budget airline AIX Connect (formerly AirAsia India) with Air India Express.

Sources say senior management, including cabin crew, are unhappy with the changes.

“Some of our cabin crew called in sick at the last minute, starting last night (Tuesday), leading to flight delays and cancellations. While we are speaking with crew to understand the reasons for these events, our teams are actively addressing this issue to minimize any inconvenience caused to our guests,” said an airline spokesperson.

International flights canceled from Hyderabad airport

Some Air India Express flights, both domestic and international, were canceled from Hyderabad airport from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has sought a detailed report from Air India Express regarding the recent flight cancellations and urged the airline to resolve the issues quickly.
