Sydney’s Chifley College locked down after student caught with knife, teacher injured



Chifley College in Sydney’s west is on lockdown after a student arrived on campus armed with a knife.

New South Wales Police said while no children were injured in the incident, a teacher was injured while trying to take the student’s knife.

“Emergency services attended a school in Maple Road, North St Marys, at around 1.20pm today following reports that a student had a knife,” the statement said.

“A member of staff suffered a small laceration while apparently attempting to confiscate the knife, before police arrived.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the staff member and took the child to hospital for assessment.

“No students were injured during the incident. Investigations continue into the incident.

The school released a statement shortly after its confinement.

“For our school community, we are currently in lockdown. »
