Police stop speeding car after running red light

Police stopped a car after it was spotted speeding through a red light, then found an “unrestrained” child sleeping in the backseat.

The car was spotted by officers on Didsbury Road just before 1am this morning (May 9). Police clocked the driver allegedly running a red light, before she reached speeds of 47 mph in a 30 mph zone.

After officers stopped the vehicle, they discovered the car had “three bald tires” and the driver had no insurance. They then found a child sleeping in the back seat without wearing a seat belt.

Police shared a photo of the child on X, formerly known as Twitter. GMP’s Traffic division said the driver was flagged down and the vehicle was seized.
