It truly takes a village…not only to raise a child, but to prepare a Bollywood star for the MET Gala. Vogue magazine shared a behind-the-scenes video of Alia Bhatt getting ready for the MET Gala in her hotel room on Monday evening. It shows her doing her hair and makeup, draping the saree and revealing the inspiration behind her look. What’s in the video?

In the video, Alia talks about how well her makeup artist Puneet B Saini knows her after working together for nine years. She said that once her sister Shaheen Bhatt was upset when Puneet received the perfect birthday gift for Alia.

The actor wore a Sabyasachi saree styled by Anaita Shrofff Adajani. Anaita revealed that the sari incorporated the three elements that made up the theme of this year’s gala: embroidered flowers for the earth and the blue color of the sky and water.

The team also showed off the ethereal and ancient influences of Hollywood’s Parsi culture on the look. Alia showed off a picture of the vintage look she wanted for the night. Hairstylist Amit Thakur got her exactly what she wanted.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who designed Alia’s saree, spoke about Indian fashion and its uniqueness. Alia also remembers the first time she wore a saree for Teachers’ Day in Class 9. She said that by the time she reached school, the folds of her sari had come undone and she rushed to the bathroom to fix it.

Met Gala 2024

In a series of Instagram posts, Alia shared a glimpse of her Met Gala experience, including a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of her exquisite ensemble.

Revealing the huge amount of effort put in, Alia revealed that it took 1965 hours of work to create this masterpiece. She expressed gratitude to the 163 dedicated people involved in the process, including master craftsmen, embroiderers, artists and dyers.
