Newscaster Accidentally Calls Drake a ‘Rapist’ in Embarrassing TV Mistake

A TV news anchor made a huge mistake on live television when he accidentally called Drake a “rapist.”

Rapper One Dance, 37, made headlines after a shooting near his Toronto mansion on Tuesday.

His security guard was rushed to hospital after the incident, while the area around his property was reportedly cordoned off.

An anchor was beginning an introduction in a segment about the shooting on ABC7NY Eyewitness News Tuesday afternoon when he made an awkward mistake.

“Lots of questions tonight about a security guard who was shot outside the rapist’s mansion…rapper, I should say, Drake in Toronto,” he began, before his co-host leaned in about Drake’s ongoing and highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar. .

Although it quickly corrected itself, viewers noticed the error – which can still be heard in the official ABC7NY clip on YouTube.

Rushing to the comments section below, Leilaniaileenlove joked: “What a mistake on the ‘rapper’.”

Shaniatreyu9303 agreed: “Damn, even Drizzy catches stray animals on ABC News.”

Notjamesearl found himself doing a double-take at the confusion, writing: “I had to pause to rewind. Applaud what he says (sic).’

As Alephmale3171 added: “You can hear someone in the studio going ‘Oh my god…’.” really humbled right after he said it (sic).’

The mistake came after it was revealed that a security guard had been rushed to hospital with serious injuries, following a shooting near Drake’s home.

Officers were called to the Bridle Path neighborhood of Toronto early yesterday morning.

A spokesperson reportedly told CityNews that the star – real name Aubrey Graham – was not injured and did not appear to be home at the time.

The Toronto Sun reports that the unnamed man was a member of Drake’s security team and was “taken to hospital with serious injuries,” while the suspect “fled away in a vehicle” .

He was reportedly rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital for treatment and underwent emergency surgery after suffering an injury to his upper chest.

Appearing at the scene at a news conference hours later, Toronto Police Inspector Paul Krawczyk told reporters: “This morning, around 2 a.m., police were called to a shooting in the residence behind me here.

“When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. This man was taken to hospital in serious condition.

“This person apparently worked as a security guard at the residence. He was standing at the gate in front of the residence when the shooting occurred.

“We have individuals who obviously fired shots, who were seen in a vehicle. I don’t have a description of the vehicle or the suspects at this time. Again, we’re just at the very beginning of this. ‘investigation.

He concluded: “I can’t speak to a motive at the moment because it’s too early, but as soon as we have information we will share it with you.”

Police did not share a description of the suspect or the vehicle in which he fled the scene.

Drake has not spoken publicly about the incident, but has reportedly offered to cooperate with the investigation.
