Two Free Robotics Classes Offered at Tazewell County Career and Technical Center

TAZEWELL COUNTY, Va. (WVVA) – The Tazewell County Career and Technical Center is offering two additional free robotic operator certifications this year. The courses will help students learn automation and other skills that can lead to employment in manufacturing plants requiring robots.

Interested students must complete OSHA 10 General Industrial Certification before the first day of class. The course instructor says students can get the cost of the certification refunded.

“There are a lot of companies, some of the biggest companies are all moving into robotics these days. They really need people who know how to use them, how to program them and reset them and get them up and running in case of downtime,” said instructor Ryan Lewis.

The first course offered begins on May 15 and will continue until June 28. It’s Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The second course runs from July 8 to July 26. It’s Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To register or for more information about the course, you can contact Lee Salyers by calling 276-988-5511, ext. 1700 or by email at [email protected]. You can also email Cynthia Hurley at [email protected].

Only 20 places are available for each class.
