A poster has been selected to represent the 162nd Annual Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Show. The artwork comes from Oak Bluffs resident Traeger di Pietro, full-time artist and submitter to nearly 20 potential poster competitions for the MV Ag Fair.

“His poster captures the magic of the Fair: rides and ribbons, livestock and loved ones,” the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society announced in a press release unveiling this year’s poster.

Di Pietro’s work depicts a sunny, green day at the Agricultural Fair, with a painting of the back of a family queuing behind a fence for the Agricultural Fair’s iconic swing – with some friendly farm animals looking on side. Below, in bright red, the poster reads “FAIR” and lists the dates and years of the fair.

The fair will take place from Thursday August 15 to Sunday August 18.

“Last year at the Fair I saw a really cute couple standing by the fence, so that was on my mind. They were very laid back and relaxed, enjoying the Fair,” di Pietro said in an Ag Society release. “Then I wanted to bring Lauren and the kids in – that’s where the creative license happened.” I wanted it to be diverse and exciting with glitter and sparkles. Lauren is di Pietro’s girlfriend.

“I always loved seeing the posters all over the island (…) and I can’t wait to hang them next to them in the lobby.” There’s such a beautiful sense of history and I’ve always wanted to be a part of it. added the 47-year-old.

Agricultural Society president Lauren Lynch said of this year’s 33 submissions,
Di Pietro’s submission stood out. “It evokes the posters of the beginning and middle of
1900s, yet reflects our island today,” she said.

Traeger’s works will be available on posters, t-shirts and other merchandise during the fair.
