Vintage candy store to expand with more space for ice cream | Berks Regional News

From the dentist to a sweet tooth’s dream.

“We’re aiming for September 2024,” said Rachael Kehler, owner of The Peppermint Stick Candy Store.

The Peppermint Candy Store on East Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown is expanding next door, in a space currently housed by a dentist.

“We realize it would be great to have a dedicated space to serve ice cream to our customers,” Kehler said.

She said the old-fashioned ice cream parlor will also be equipped with a vintage soda fountain.

“We wanted families to be able to come and have that old-fashioned experience,” Kehler said.

She said Boyertown Family Dental moved, opening up the space.

“Dr. J and I were always laughing. Our customers loved that we had a candy store next to a dentist,” Kehler said.

The new extension will be added to the current store.

“We sell all kinds of candy. Vintage candy is our specialty,” Kehler said.

More than 16 flavors of ice cream will be offered during the expansion, as well as banana splits and sundaes.

She said there would be 30 seats.

“We always thought we needed to move to another, larger location,” Kehler said.

And it’s all happening in Kehler’s hometown.

“Boyertown is just a great town,” she said.
