Sharwanand’s Manamey inspired by the novel?

If sources are to be believed, the much-publicized love story “Manamey” was reportedly inspired by a popular novel adapted into a film. “It was a popular bestseller that revolved around a child and two lovers and the crucial role the child plays in their lives,” he says. He claims that director Sriram Aditya adapted it well for the big screen and added a few characters and situations to make it more interesting. “Adapting a novel is a completely different matter and the creators have succeeded in offering a touching film,” he adds.

He claims that Telugu filmmakers who take inspiration from novels are nothing to the Telugu film industry. Nithin-Samantha starrer A AA was inspired by the Telugu novel Meena, and Vaishnav Tej’s film Konda Polam was inspired by the eponymous novel written by Sannapureddy Venkata Rami Reddy. Even yesteryear hits like ‘Prem Nagar’, Jeevana Tharangalu’, ‘Abhilasha’ and Sitaara’ were adapted from novels and did wonders at the box office,’ he points out.

There is no doubt that Sharwanand has to prove something with his next film as a lot of stakes are at stake for him in this film. “Sharwanand played a softer role in this romantic drama and relied on his comedic skills to attract audiences to the theaters,” he concludes.
