Didi Hamann thinks Bayern Munich should consider selling Harry Kane

Didi Hamann believes Bayern Munich should consider selling Harry Kane after failing to win any trophies this season.

Harry Kane has been scoring goals for fun since joining Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur last summer. But the Bavarians have failed to turn the England captain’s goals into titles and are set to experience their first season without a trophy since 2011/12.

A lot has been said and written by trolls in recent weeks about Kane’s lack of trophies during his career. And now Dietmar Hamann has had his say on the striker. During his appearance on Sky90 – the football debate, the former Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder questioned whether the Bavarians would have been better off without signing Kane.

“Bayern scored more goals last year without Kane than they did now,” Hamann said. “Signing Kane also came at a price. His salary is very high and it cost over 100 million. If Tel had played up front, would he necessarily be in a worse position?”

“They played well against Arsenal. He wasn’t visible. He didn’t show much against Madrid either. And then he came off after 80 minutes because his back hurt. I have to be honest : I have no sympathy for that.

Hamann believes Bayern Munich’s management must now ask themselves whether they should consider cutting their losses to Harry Kane. “I would definitely ask the question internally: are they better off with 100 million in the bank and him in England?”

Of course, Hamann’s logic is flawed in that Bayern would have been in a much worse position without Kane’s 44 goals and 12 assists this season. The 30-year-old often carried the team on his back, especially when the team was decimated by injuries.
