MEMPHIS, Tenn. — CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County announced an additional $4,000 reward will be offered in an August 2023 hit-and-run crash that left three people dead. That’s a total of $8,000 offered for information leading to charges.

The accident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Aug. 3, 2023, at the intersection of Early Maxwell and Southern Ave. near Liberty Park, where a motorcycle rally was taking place at the time. one week. Memphis police said a Chrysler 300 crashed into two golf carts and the carts caught fire.

Three men – identified by CrimeStoppers as Tommy Roper, Adam Hawkins and James Stokes – died at the scene and another man was injured.

CrimeStoppers officials said the golf carts were carrying fuel for a generator at the time. They said the Chrysler was stolen and four suspects drove away from the crash eastbound, but a security guard managed to take a photo.

CrimeStoppers said the additional reward was provided by the family of Cooper Thomez, a student who was riding his bicycle when he was struck and injured at East Parkway and Sam Cooper Blvd. Last year.

“The detectives couldn’t solve his case,” father Curtis Thomez said. “We want to put the money we offered in this case toward another hit-and-run in hopes of helping other families get justice.” »
