Los Angeles-based Lizabeth Scott’s former home has the old Hollywood history without the old Hollywood look. Despite the typical mid-century bones, a fresh coat of paint brings a modern touch to the film noir actress’ former home. This stunning transitional style is best illustrated in the living room.

A coat of white paint brings a refreshing light to Scott’s old living room idea. The entire space is suffused with white: from the ceilings to the walls, to the built-in shelves and even the fireplace. Combined with the rectangular, paneled design of the space, the dissonance of styles gives the room an undeniable timeless elegance.

Although the contemporary nature of the house makes it hard to believe it has been there since the 1940s, historic photos tell a different story. Images of Elvis Presley, Dolores Hart and Lizabeth Scott reading together in the living room show the home’s renovation before 2016: with the natural wood of the walls and the stone of the fireplace on full display. Almost as striking as The King is the difference the updated color of the living room made, taking the house from dated to dream home.

The Hollywood farmhouse is stunning beyond the idea of the white living room. Built by renowned architect Robert Byrd, specifically for Lizabeth Scott, this distinctive home is uniquely positioned to provide panoramic views from Downtown Los Angeles to Catalina Island. It’s a celebration of Byrd’s classic California farmhouse style. The home is currently for sale for just under $3.5 million, listed with Elisa Ritt of Compass.

The kitchen at the property Elvis frequented is particularly magnificent. Black stone and white cabinets are an impactful combination that once again brings a modern touch to the most classic elements of the home. Newly installed stainless steel hardware adds yet another contemporary touch. Once again, the room is welcoming and warm.
