Stolen van recovered by Kansas authorities after drugs found during traffic stop

JACKSON CO., Kan. (KCTV) – A pickup truck stolen from Miami Co., Kan., was recovered by Kansas law enforcement after meth was found during a traffic stop.

The Jackson County, Kan., Sheriff’s Office says that around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, law enforcement attempted to stop a gray 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 pickup truck near 182nd and S. Rd. .The tag on the truck did not match the vehicle for which the tag was registered.

During the stop, the sheriff’s office said law enforcement learned the van had been reported stolen out of Miami Co., Kan., and the driver had been arrested.

As a result, Chellcie Sparks, 35, of Mayetta, was arrested and booked into the Jackson Co. Jail on:

  • Possession of stolen property
  • Possession of methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Interference with law enforcement
  • Battery on a law enforcement officer

As of Wednesday afternoon, Sparks was released on bond.
