25-year-old arrested in connection with fatal beating of man at Fort Worth bullring

A third suspect has been arrested in connection with the beating death of a 37-year-old man on Labor Day in 2022, according to jail records.

Jaime Ruiz Villanueva was booked into the Fort Worth City Jail on Wednesday. Police records show he faces a murder charge.

Apolonio Aguilar Mata died in the emergency room of a local hospital on Sept. 5, 2022, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s website. He died from blunt force injuries, and his death was ruled a homicide.

Police said several people were believed to have beaten the victim, who was attacked at the Plaza Mexico bullring at 1000 Oak Grove Court South.

In February 2023, Fort Worth police arrested Aguilar Mata’s ex-wife, Macaria Ruiz, and Francisco Castro Ruiz on suspicion of murder. On Sept. 12, 2023, they were each indicted on a murder charge, according to court records.
