MSU DPPS Announces 2023 Award Winners, Including Officer and Civilian of the Year

EAST LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety (MSU DPPS) held its annual awards ceremony on May 13, 2024, recognizing department employees who are surpassed in the calendar year 2023. Many awards were presented during the ceremony, including Lifesaving Award, Officer of the Year, Civilian of the Year, etc.

“Honoring our employees is one of the most important things we can do,” said Doug Monette, MSU’s interim vice president and chief of police and public safety. “We are grateful for all the hard work they have done and continue to do every day. »

The 2023 award winners are listed below.

  • Officer of the Year – Ofc. Aaron White
  • Civilian of the Year – Dawn Mazur
  • Support Staff Employee of the Year – Brittney Compton
  • Student of the Year – MaryCate Heberlein
  • Leadership Award – Kathleen Bissett
