Return to Silent Hill gives first look at Pyramid Head

The most recent addition to silent Hill the film line will be Return to Silent Hill. A preview broadcast during the Cannes Film Festival allowed moviegoers to discover the new Pyramid Head for the first time. (Thanks, Variety!)

Christophe Gans, who worked on the previous 2006 silent Hill film, is the director of this one. He co-wrote the screenplay with Sandra Vo-Anh (The beauty and the Beast) and William José Schneider (The Crows). Gans and Vo-Anh worked together on the 2014 adaptation of The beauty and the Beastwith Léa Seydoux and Vincent Cassel in the cast.

Return to Silent Hill will adapt Silent Hill 2. Jeremiah Irvine (Battle horse) plays James and Hannah Emily Anderson (Jigsaw) plays Mary. It’s likely she’ll also play Maria, the mysterious woman with an uncanny resemblance to Mary who James meets in Silent Hill.

Silent Hill 2 is widely considered one of the best video games of all time with its psychological horror and use of symbolism. Since its release in September 2001, it has sold over a million copies. Bloober Team announced a remake in October 2022 and it is still in development.

Return to Silent Hill Filming began in April 2023 and does not yet have a release date.
