Photo London 2024: Master Photography 2024: Valérie Belin: ‘Silent Stories’

One of the strong points of the Photo London the program is Valérie Belin RECIPIENT of THE Master Photography 2024, his personal exhibition “Silent Stories” offers a retrospective of his Berlin work spanning three decades.

Throughout his career, Belin has explored the tension between the superficial appearance of things and their true nature. Often using the human body as a vehicle for abstraction and projected meaning, she has photographed live models and mannequins, masks and card sharks, dancers and bodybuilders, questioning the construction and fetishization of ideals of traditional beauty and sustainable gender constructs.

The series of images is, in the words of the creator, “neither narrative nor documentary and does not tell any particular story, but must be considered as a mirror of actions without words”.
