ITANAGAR, May 18: Members of the Arunachal Civil Society (ACS), during a press conference at the Arunachal Press Club here on Saturday, demanded cancellation of appointments illegally made in the PHE&WS department “under the jurisdiction of the Chief Engineer , eastern area, in Changlang district.

Addressing the media, ACS IPR Secretary Giah Tanam said such activities “jeopardize the future of the youth of Arunachal by reducing employment opportunities due to malpractices” .

“With the steady increase in illegal recruitment procedures in almost all departments,” Tanam said, “this blatant disregard for the integrity of public institutions, which is being done for the people of Arunachal, must end at the earliest possible”.

Referring to the 2017 recruitment, he explained that “malpractice exists everywhere, even in the system of recruiting primary teachers in schools”.

“The recruitment issue of the PHE&WS department must be brought to justice for the next generation of Arunachal Pradesh. Pema Khandu’s government says it opposes this practice, but it persists. The government must take responsibility and take strict action against them,” Tanam said, adding that “background appointments will only deprive deserving candidates of job opportunities.”

“Due to the virality of this malpractice, the ACS has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary, with three demands: the appointment of all 25 people must be canceled within 14 days, and legal action is undertaken to guarantee compliance with Article 16 of the Constitution. , which guarantees equal opportunities in public employment.

“Government officials involved in these illegal appointments should be dismissed from their positions as punishment, to deter future violations,” he said.

Additionally, the identities of everyone involved, including politicians, government officials and brokers, must be publicly disclosed to ensure transparency and accountability, Tanam said.

ACS official Kamin Yangfo said appointees and appointees were to blame.

“There must be action against them (the appointees) as well,” he said.

The ACS, Yangfo said, “believes in focusing on one question at a time to achieve results with strong conclusions.”

“We will not rest until justice is served and we will continue to follow this matter,” he added.
