Rajkummar Rao on losing films to star kids during tough days

Rajkummar Rao is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Mr & Mrs Mahi with Janhvi Kapoor. The film is scheduled to hit the big screens on May 31. The romantic sports drama film is directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Zee Studios and Dharma Productions.

Recently, in a conversation with producer Karan Johar, Rajkummar spoke about their film and spoke about his acting journey. He even revealed that he lost films to child stars.

Talking about how foreigners talk about star kids, Karan said, “Sometimes they use it as a way to grab headlines. Hugely successful people say, “Oh, I felt like an outsider and an opportunity lost to a child star.” Someone says, “I didn’t go to a party, so I didn’t get a role.” “I don’t know at which party there were transactions for films.”

Replying to him, Rajkummar said that he had even lost a film to star kids during his wrestling days and he thought it was unfair. He said, “When I came to Mumbai, even I was told that you have to attend parties. Making connections isn’t a problem, but going to a party and saying, “Hello, I’m here to make contact” is. But having said that, I was supposed to make a film, but suddenly I was no longer in that film overnight. Someone who is famous and happens to be a child star got this role.”

He added: “I think it wasn’t fair. Just because you can control things, you know the people, you can make calls, it’s unfair. That movie ultimately never got made. This guy was an insider but he could also have been a successful outsider who could do the same thing to you.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajkummar will also be seen in Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2. The film stars Shraddha Kapoor, Apaarshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi in key roles.
