Netflix confirms hit series won’t be canceled after all amid fan hysteria

SHOW bosses have confirmed a hit Netflix show is set to be renewed after fans panicked thinking it would be axed.

3 Body Problem was the most popular show on the streaming platform when it aired, but fans became nervous about its future after a statement that implied it would only have one more season.

The show’s creators spoke about the upcoming second series, saying: “We’re thrilled to be able to tell this story to its epic conclusion.

“Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we hoped we could take the audience with us to the ends of the universe. Here we go!”

The reference to “conclusion” made it seem like the sci-fi might end after the second season.

Since 3 Body Problem is based on a trilogy, this shocked viewers, who thought there would be at least three seasons.

But Game of Thrones writers David Benioff and DB Weiss, who also worked on the project, have confirmed that the next installment will not mark the end of the story.

DB Weiss told The Hollywood Reporter: “We knew from the beginning how many hours we needed to tell the rest of the story because we have a road map until the end.

“And we have what we need to go through as originally planned.”

David added: “By the time we finish the series, it will have been seven years since we spent on it.

“We’re at the point now where we can tell the rest of the story and, yes, we have enough time to tell the rest of the story the way we want to tell it and that’s extremely rewarding.”

Their new comments imply that there’s a lot more fun to come, so fans can breathe a sigh of relief.

The bestselling original trilogy on which the series is based was written by Chinese writer Liu Cixin, an engineer with an understanding of physics.

Three-Body Problem won the 2015 Hugo Best Novel Award, the science fiction genre’s highest honor.

The Netflix series initially follows the storyline of Liu’s first book, but then diverges into its own narrative before preparing viewers for the second book.

Embarking on a captivating journey across continents and eras, the tale is set in 1960s China, where a pivotal decision made by a young woman resonates across space and time to the present day.

With the fate of humanity hanging in the balance, a team of scientists known as the Oxford Five race against time to save the world from catastrophic consequences.

3 Body Problem continually challenges conventional scientific norms, pushing characters to rethink their strategies to figure out how to confront humanity’s greatest threat.
