RVIA President and CEO Kirby Offers Memorial Day Message – RVBusiness

As we head into Memorial Day weekend and the unofficial start of summer, millions of Americans will celebrate by packing their RVs to head out with family and friends to their outdoor destination preferred. As an industry, we remain optimistic about the future and while challenges remain in the short term, there are many positives in the RV industry that we should focus on.

As inflation continues to impact consumers, RV affordability is more important than ever. According to a recent study commissioned by Go RVing and the RV Industry Association, there are average savings of up to 60% for a party of four, while a group of two saves an average of up to 60%. 46%, depending on factors such as type of campervan and type of vacation.

Consumers continue to prioritize travel, spending time with family and friends, and creating unforgettable memories. This study confirms the fact that campervan holidays are one of the most economical ways to travel and take away many of the traditional hassles of travel, whilst also offering greater control over your budget.

Memorial Day weekend is just the start of what promises to be a busy season for RV travel, as another study we recently conducted of American leisure travelers found that 45 million Americans plan to go RVing this summer, a slight increase. since last year.

When asked why they were considering RV travel, respondents cited a love of road trips, comfort and convenience of RVing, positive past RV experiences, connection to nature, and affordability .

The survey also showed that motorhome camping is a year-round activity: 50% of leisure travelers express interest in taking a motorhome trip in the next year and 20% of leisure travelers approval say they would like to purchase a campervan in the next 12 months.

Add to all of this the younger, more diverse buyers we’ve seen enter the RV industry over the past few years, as well as the strong RV bookings at our campground partners, there’s so much positive data that illustrates that the RV industry has a very promising future. .

When I open, this weekend means the start of summer for many, and we know that campgrounds across the country will be filled with families and friends gathered around their RVs. But this weekend is also of considerable importance for our Nation. Memorial Day itself is intended to commemorate veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedoms.

As many of us gather this weekend with our families and friends, take a moment to honor the brave men and women who have given their lives in service to our great country.

Happy motorhome summer everyone – and thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Craig Kirby
