Move to higher court after summer vacation to challenge cancellation of OBC

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday said her government will move a high court after summer vacation to challenge the Calcutta High Court order that recently canceled all certificates of Other Backward Classes (OBC) issued in the state after 2010.

Although she did not mention the name of the court, political observers believe it is the Supreme Court. The Trinamul Congress supremo, who was addressing a Lok Sabha election campaign rally at Sagar in South 24 Parganas, also asserted that OBC reservation would continue in the meantime like other categories.

“There is no reason to be afraid. I will not allow cancellation of OBC booking. It will continue as before. The Tapashili, Adivasi and general categories will also continue. We also have a program for the economically backward classes which must also continue,” she said.

The CM added, “Summer vacation is now underway. As soon as this ends, we will move to a higher court,” before asserting, “I respect the courts but a few judges only respect the diktat of the BJP and the CPI(M). » On May 22, a division bench of the HC ordered the cancellation of nearly five lakh OBC certificates issued by the TMC government.

Ms. Banerjee further criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for calling himself “son of God” during an interview with a national television channel. She asked at another party rally in Mathurapur in the district: “He now calls himself the son of God. He claims that unlike us, he has no biological parents. He says he was sent by God.

Ms. Banerjee asked sarcastically, “I ask though: Does God send anyone to orchestrate riots or spread lies through advertisements or imprison people in the name of NRC exercises? Has God sent his emissary to sponsor hooliganism in the name of CAA or stop funds for 100-day works or prevent the construction of rural houses? Is God going back on his promise to deposit Rs 15 lakhs in people’s bank accounts? God cannot do such things.
