Williamsport, Pa. — Probation officers conducted a search after noticing a man running out of sight to meet another individual near Sheetz in Loyalsock.

James Kane, 48, of Williamsport, was searched after coming back into view of the offices, Trooper Taylor Arnold said. Adult probation officers found 34 grams of marijuana, suspected psilocybin mushrooms and two THC pens on Kane, Taylor added.

Kane was detained and read his Miranda rights while probation officers contacted Pennsylvania State Police troopers, according to the complaint. He was informed that officers would conduct a search of his residence, a room at Liberty Lodge.

Several drug-related items were reportedly in plain view in Kane’s bedroom. When Officer Taylor arrived on scene, he asked Kane for consent to enter the room and seize what was in plain view. Kane gave written consent and Trooper Taylor entered the room and took the following items, according to the affidavit: marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, unknown blue pills, joints and vape pens.

Kane is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.
