Actress Janhvi Kapoor finally opened up about the abrupt shelving of the film Dostana 2 and shed light on the rumors of a fallout between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar. The film, which was supposed to star Janhvi alongside Kartik Aaryan and Laksh Lalwani, faced delays and was eventually shelved, leading to various speculations about the reasons behind it.

Janhvi, in a conversation with The Lallantop, revealed that the actors shot for the film for around 30-35 days before it was shelved. She expressed confusion over the decision, stating: “I don’t know why the film was shelved. We started shooting this film well before Covid. And then Covid arrived and there was a delay of more than a year and a half. Then people wanted to relaunch the film… I don’t know.

Regarding the rumored discord between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar, Janhvi clarified, “I don’t think that’s it. I think the work is extremely important to both of them. But unlike beech kya hua kya nahi hua, you should ask them about it.

Kartik Aaryan had already spoken about releasing the film in 2022, saying, “I am only focusing on my work. That’s all I would like to say about this. Look at my (movie) lineup (right now). He dismissed rumors of any major conflict, pointing out that people often blow things out of proportion.

In November last year, Karan Johar announced a new collaboration with Kartik Aaryan, seemingly ending lingering tensions. He shared the news on social media, expressing his excitement for the upcoming project and wishing Kartik a happy birthday.

Despite Dostana 2 being shelved, fans can expect to see Kartik Aaryan in a new project helmed by Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor, which is scheduled to release on August 15, 2025.
