A 39-year-old man rejected a plea offer of 50 years in prison in Baltimore City Circuit Court on May 24.

Brandon Fullard is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in commission of a violent crime, having a loaded handgun in and on a vehicle and having a handgun on him for the death of Brian Richardson, 31, last year.

In receiving court before Judge Melissa K. Copeland, the prosecution offered Fullard 40 years in prison, all but 30 suspended, for second-degree murder and a consecutive sentence of 20 years, the first five without possibility of Conditional liberation. Fullard’s lawyer, Roya Hanna, told the court her client wanted to reject the offer.

The attorneys requested an October trial date because they were still awaiting DNA test results. According to the Maryland Judicial Branch website, Fullard’s next hearing will be before Judge Paul E. Alpert on October 28.

According to a press release from the Baltimore Police Department, Fullard was arrested on January 5 for Richardson’s murder. Richardson was shot in the 3300 block of Garrison Boulevard on November 12, 2023.
