New “cosy” pub opens in Glasgow

A cozy new gastropub “like a second living room” has opened in the heart of Glasgow’s Southside.

The Torrisdale Tavern is located in the town’s Strathbungo and offers classic pub fare, small plates, brunch, Sunday roasts and a range of drinks.

Sports fans will find what they’re looking for with six large screens and a projector to broadcast all the major matches.

Aiming to serve quality food at affordable prices, the venue has 60 covers and has been designed to make punters feel relaxed and comfortable as if they were relaxing at home.

A total of 21 people were employed.

General manager Gavin Clark said: “We are absolutely delighted to bring The Torrisdale Tavern to the Strathbungo area, serving hearty food, tasty wine and a great selection of beers and cocktails.

“We have worked hard to create the perfect ambiance, right down to the color of the stalls, the food we serve and the beautiful wine glasses, to stamp our mark as the region’s newest gastropub.

“Whether guests want to enjoy a hearty local meal, catch up over a drink or want to try some of our unique beers, we will be everyone’s ‘second living room’ with warm, friendly service and plenty of character.” “

Heading up the kitchen is Chef Deborah Neilson, who has worked in many kitchens over the years.

She said: “I’m a local myself and have seen Strathbungo thriving for many years now.

“Having worked in every kitchen over the last decade, I had the opportunity to open my very first delivery kitchen.

“In addition to our daily menu, we will also offer brunch from 10 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday, a delicious Sunday Roast and a vegan menu.”

Torrisdale Tavern is the latest venture in the C&C restaurant group. It is open from 12 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
