Fallen Idols Viewers ‘Shocked’ by Nick Carter ‘Smear Campaign’ Allegations

Investigation Discovery’s latest true crime documentary series, Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter, has sparked strong reactions, with some viewers shocked by allegations of a “smear campaign”.

In the wake of the explosive revelations made in Quiet on Set, ID is back with a new documentary series focusing on the numerous allegations against the Backstreet Boys singer and his strained relationship with his late younger brother.

In Fallen Idols, three women who accused Nick of sexual assault come forward, including: dream singer Melissa Schuman; Ashley Repp, friend of Angel, Nick’s sister; and Shannon “Shay” Ruth, the first to file charges against Nick.

The pop star, who denies the allegations, has received continued support from her loyal fans, with a number of ‘superfans’ appearing in the documentary series and others taking to social media to claim she is part of a “smear campaign”.

“It’s disgusting and evil how @HBOMaxRP @StreamOnMax made a smear campaign documentary on Nick Carter with false allegations against him written by fan fiction obsessed weirdos,” someone said on X/ Twitter.

“Nick Carter didn’t rape anyone, he is the victim of a vicious smear campaign,” wrote another, while a third added: “We care deeply, love fiercely and fight for who and what we believe and we will fight for you @Nick Carter.

Fallen Idols viewers have since reacted to the outpouring of support from Backstreet Boys fans after learning more about the various allegations against Nick.

“Nick Carter’s doc is shocking! Not because he’s an abuser…that doesn’t really surprise me. But because of this random cult that supports him en masse,” one commented. “Like I never stopped playing Backstreet either, but HE’S THE guy people aren’t going to bring pitchforks to? Mad.”

Another, who spoke in support of Melissa after the documentary’s premiere, said: “I hope Nick Carter pays your fan accounts one and a half times tonight! See the same people leaving the same messages on people’s posts lol. Most of them blocked me, so I’m sure I’m not seeing half of them.

A third added: “I had a quick browse and didn’t know Nick Carter had positions like this. You all need to grow up now.

ID President Jason Sarlanis spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the “wrath of the BSB army,” explaining that it wasn’t really an issue when it came to making Fallen Idols.

“No matter the topic, when someone is brave enough to share their story – as the three women featured in this documentary series have done – we want to use our platform to empower them and give them a voice,” a- he declared to the media. .

“No matter who they’re talking about, we want to empower survivors and not necessarily focus on the potential perpetrator. »

Sarlanis went on to say, “The fact that there is such a fan base makes it a relevant story to watch. These are trials that are happening, and this seems to be a very timely story because of that.

Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter Episodes 1 and 2 are now streaming on Max, with Episodes 3 and 4 airing on ID and Max tonight (May 28) from 6-8 p.m. PT / 9-11 p.m. HEY.
