Woman heard a sneeze and was shocked by what she found hidden in her Christmas tree

Christmas is the celebration of joy and love. It’s that time of year when we are more joyful. However, for one young woman, the celebrations also included a possum hiding under her Christmas tree, of all places in her house. Brett (@brettbratt359) shared the video on TikTok, however, she didn’t expect the clip to go viral. In the video, she can be seen wondering how the opossum got into her house and tree because she didn’t even leave her doors open.

In another video, she can be seen sharing close-ups of the possum and calling it cute, while wondering what to do. She posted another video explaining the details of what exactly happened and how she was finally able to keep the possum away after the first video gained traction. The story goes something like this: She came home from work and heard a sneeze while she was working on her couch. She assumed it was one of her pets and ignored it. However, it happened again and louder this time. But there was no trace of his pets anywhere. That’s when she noticed a big tail as she looked near the window. When she followed the tail’s trail, she saw a “giant breathing ball of gray fur.” Out of fear and shock, she called her boyfriend who told her where the rubber gloves were – in case the possum bit her or was cranky.

She said, “I take the gloves and grab his body and start trying to get him out of the tree.” Now that possums have hands, this little guy would hang on to the Christmas tree for the rest of his life. No matter how hard Brett pulled or even tried to lure him with food, he wouldn’t move. She finally decided to remove his fingers one by one until he released his grip on the tree, but not before pulling the tree and ornaments with him. He then started running and slipped under the sofa. Every time Brett moved the couch, the opossum would go under the other one. After about 5 rounds, just before almost giving up, Brett decided to give it one last try. She moved the couch and jumped on the animal and, to her surprise, she managed to catch the possum and calm it down.

She also mentioned that even though she called animal control, they didn’t show up until hours later. As Brett herself was an animal lover and had many pets, including a few dogs, a cat, a few snakes and even a bearded dragon, she explained that she would have just kept the possum if he didn’t. It hadn’t smelled so horrible. The comments section was full of funny reactions. @tress said: “Girl, I can’t even kill a spider let alone pull a possum out of a tree.” Another user, @elizasray, said: “I literally left my house because a bee came once. You belong on Survivor,” and many of us feel that way!
