20,000 silent layoffs reported by IT employees union in 2023

According to the All India IT & ITeS Employees’ Union (AIITEU), around 20,000 employees in the Indian IT sector faced “silent layoffs” in 2023. Silent layoffs involve discreet methods such as non-renewal of contract or the early retirement proposal. Companies like TCS, Infosys and Wipro were involved, apart from HCLTech.
