Trevor Lawrence is one of the next big names in line for a contract extension with his current team, although there aren’t many indications that significant progress has been made on a deal yet. This isn’t a big concern for the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, however.

Lawrence told reporters Monday that he isn’t worried about his contract situation, instead leaving that up to his agents. He predicted a new deal would “take care of itself” sooner rather than later.

“Obviously I’m aware of what’s going on, but I’m trying to stay focused on my job here,” Lawrence said, via Eric Edholm of NFL.com. “I’m confident it will sort itself out and it’s not something I need to worry about.

“That’s why I pay and hire people to do this for me.” It’s not my job. But obviously I know what’s going on. I’m aware of the situation – I think it’s important too – but I’m trying to keep all my focus and all my energy to be the best player possible to help us win.

Lawrence seems to want and expect a drama-free negotiation. Jaguars seem just as keen, and they may already be in the same price range. The only real question about this seems to be when it will be achieved, not if.

Lawrence is coming off a rough season that saw his touchdowns drop to 21 compared to 14 interceptions. However, the Jaguars don’t appear to have lost confidence in him and he has a lot of money to make.
