Ride or Die’ Could Open in the Million Range — World of Reel

Last week, internal tracking numbers indicated that “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” could open in the $60 million range. Additionally, according to a survey, it was the film that the general American public was most aware of, beating out all other summer films, including “Deadpool 3.”

Deadline is now survey the alarm that tickets aren’t selling as well as they thought for this latest “Bad Boys” movie. One look at local AMC/Regal seating charts and you may notice that there aren’t many tickets sold for the film.

Although the exhibition is very fond of Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, there is concern that the slow market will cause the picture’s opening to take a back seat. $30 million range (…) The film’s initial $50 million was based on pre-sales, but tracking has adjusted their numbers in recent days.

“Bad Boys: Ride or Die” is finally screened this evening to critics. I wouldn’t bet on good reviews, but crazier things have happened – I’m a reluctant participant in them. A $30 million opening would be catastrophic for the film which has a $100 million budget, and decent reviews certainly wouldn’t hurt in giving a slight boost to its weekend numbers.

It’s no secret that this cinematic summer has generated some truly abysmal numbers at the box office. Virtually every film released has failed to meet projected expectations. What Hollywood desperately needs right now is a hit, and “Deadpool 3” won’t be released until July 26.
