Back To Back: Paul Vinas wins stage 6 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball series – News

Stop #6 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series at Good Times Billiards started with a tough field of SoCal pool players, with Paul Vinas (604) winning the stops BACK TO BACK! Paul had a great run, beating Nico Scalise (616) on hill in a single run after taking the hot seat. This is Paul’s second victory in the series, following his victory at stage #5 last month!

Paul started the tournament strong, beating San Diego’s Tim Traver (565) in the first round, followed by 3 close 7-5 wins over Butch Barba (608), season 3 opener Joseph Leon (593) and our newest player, Nico Scalise. In round 5, he did a little better and beat Terrence Lee (581) to take the lead.

Nico came to this tournament without knowing the field, location or format, but he still managed to stay focused and defeat great players himself. In the first round, he came out strong, beating Derrick Cabrera (592) 7-0, and followed that up with another heavy win over Isaac Pineda (549). He then defeated LBC’s Jeff Schaum (499) before losing to Paul Vinas in the fourth round. This brought him to the side of a loss to Butch Barba, who was coming off 3 straight wins. After beating Butch, Nico defeated Francis Lanag (609) and Terrence Lee, which took him to the final against Paul.

Stop #7 (the Break & Run Derby) will take place on Sunday, July 7! More information on this unique format to come. Registrations will go on sale at 9am on June 23. Be prepared to buy these entries – they sell out faster and faster every month. It’s basically a must-win tournament for everyone – don’t miss it!
