There’s no doubt that almost every Spurs fan you speak to would describe Son as a legend, with the striker being one of the most popular players in the club’s recent history.

He is now the face of Tottenham and one of the club’s longest-serving players, having completed nine seasons in N17 since leaving Bayer Leverkusen in 2015.

However, despite all the records he made with Spurs, Son insisted he wanted to lead the club to silverware before he could achieve legendary status at Tottenham.

He told Football.London: “It’s been almost 10 years at this incredible club. To be honest, it’s been an incredible journey. There have been so many players I have played with and managers I have worked with who have been so helpful and brought me so many great memories and respect along the way,” said in a interview during the program of the club’s last day of the season.

“I always want to make things happen. It’s not up to me to decide if I’m a legend at this club. I wouldn’t call myself a legend because I want to win something here and that’s why I’m so committed. I think we have a bright future with this manager and this team, so we need to continue to improve so we can achieve more together.

“When my time comes to leave this incredible club, I hope everyone can consider me a legend, which will be a huge honor and for which I would be very grateful.”

Sonny loves playing under Postecoglou at Tottenham

Son has enjoyed a new lease of life since Ange Postecoglou replaced Antonio Conte at the helm a year ago, with the Australian making the South Korean club captain.

The striker admitted that he is thoroughly enjoying his football under the Tottenham head coach and is confident the team will be much more competitive next season.

When asked about his collaboration with Postecoglou, the 31-year-old said: “Ange brought fun to the game, almost like when you played for the love of the game when you were a kid, and that’s how you should play it. ‘approach – don’t think too much and just enjoy doing what you love,’ said the skipper.

“I think that’s why he always delivers the right message and the right lesson. As a human being, he’s very family oriented and that’s what he brought to the group. He cares deeply about the entire team, which is very inspiring. I am very, very happy to work with him.

“Playing exciting football is all well and good, but you really have to embrace and believe in Ange’s style of football. You have to be all in, and everyone here is committed to it and willing to make sacrifices to succeed, which is very important.

“It’s only our first season. I think we have made great progress, but there is still much to do. We must look at the positives in order to move forward in the strongest possible way.

Spurs Web Opinion

No player deserves a trophy more than Son. The South Korean has been a fantastic servant to the club and has shown incredible loyalty, although he could have joined any team in world football in their prime.

However, even though he has no trophies to show for his time at Tottenham, he will always be considered one of the club’s greatest modern legends.
